President Ron Rose unveils the artistry of Adrian Pickett Jr. in the form of a charcoal portrait of Chuck Malspeis, the late founder of Nova Pressroom Products. The portrait is a memoriam to Chuck, as we near the 2nd anniversary of his untimely death in June of this year. Chuck died in a tragic drowning accident in Costa Rica, June 2011.
Chuck was the heart and soul of Nova and affectionately known as one of the “wizards.” It was his dream to build a successful company with the people he loved and that loved him. The creation of the company was largely due to his vision, passion and inspiration, and his incredibly diligent hours of work to make it all happen. He was also one of the foremost formulators of aqueous coatings in the printing industry. Chuck graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Ohio State University and earned a Masters in Business Administration from University of Cincinnati.
The incredibly “life like” art was the workings of Adrian Pickett Jr., a Jacksonville native, who has been referred to as a living legend in the world of art. Claiming that he is an “artist by nature” and without any formal training, Pickett has received much acclaim by exhibiting and winning various juried art events. Adrian’s artwork has been nationally recognized and has been featured in the 2009-2010 Faber Castell Artist Catalog. He has contributed artwork to many local charities. The Cultural Council and has recently opened The Adrian Pickett Gallery @ The Jacksonville Landing Suite 112, 2 Independent Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
